INTEGRATED BELL ACOUSTIC SYSTEM

Yamaha's unique Integrated Bell Acoustic System gives you the best of both worlds—high-quality digital sound with the full expressiveness of an acoustic wind instrument. This new, advanced system, consists of speaker unit, enclosure, acoustic pipe and a real brass bell, responds to your breath from the mouthpiece, and digitally creates sound that drives the speaker, causing the brass bell to resonate and vibrate. In fact, the entire instrument resonates with the sound, and that vibration comes back to you—to your mouth from the mouthpiece and to your fingertips from the keys. The result is an instrument that breathes, moves and vibrates along with your playing, giving you all the expressive feeling of an acoustic saxophone with the comprehensive capabilities of a digital instrument.

MOUTHPIECE

In order to enable the most naturally expressive and comfortable playability, the YDS-150 features a mouthpiece designed the same as that of an acoustic saxophone. It can also be conveniently removed for easy maintenance.

KEY LAYOUT

The key layout is based on Yamaha’s acoustic saxophones, providing seamless usability. You can also change fingering using a dedicated app.

BRASS BELL

The high-quality brass bell is made of the same material as used on Yamaha's acoustic saxophones. Drawing on our extensive know-how and experience of making acoustic instruments, we designed this bell to gorgeously reproduce the long reverberation peculiar to wind instruments as well as the delicate sonic nuances sounds when playing pianissimo. Moreover, the authentic resonance causes the entire instrument to vibrate, and lets you truly feel the music as you play it.

BREATH SENSOR

The breath sensor detects the strength (pressure) of your breath, allowing you to control not only the strength, but also the tone of your sound as you play.

FULL-SCALE SAMPLING

We teamed up with professional performers to sample the sounds of Yamaha acoustic saxophones—soprano, alto, tenor and baritone—meticulously recorded in whole tones, so that you can enjoy a natural sound without any hint of incongruity.

SAXOPHONE TONE IN 4 TYPES, 56 PRESETS

Includes 56 different voices for the soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, to handle a variety of genres and styles. You can also play with the voices of other instruments, like the shakuhachi, flute, electronic instruments, and more, giving you a total of 73 voices to work with.

EXTERNAL CONNECTION TERMINALS

The YDS-150 comes equipped with an auxiliary input terminal for connecting devices such as smartphones, allowing you to connect to an external audio source to feel like you’re playing in an ensemble. Sound must be output from the headphone jack

DEDICATED YDS CONTROLLER APP

This dedicated app enhances the performance of the YDS-150 and further expands the range of sound creation—and includes instrument settings and sound editing. You can make detailed settings intuitively and visually from the app, that cannot be done on the instrument itself.
