Customers can claim £40 cashback from Casio when purchasing selected Casio models in the AP/PX range until 31st March 2023.
In addition to this, Casio will donate £10 per claim to charities supporting music activities for those living with dementia! As a company, we see the tremendous value of enhancing people’s lives with music, and you may be aware of our renowned Light Up My Life campaign. This partnership with music charities aims to increase awareness, access and participation of music-making activities within care home settings, highlighting the incredible power music has to bring us together – and improve overall health and wellbeing.
The Light Up My Life campaign is a Casio led project, in partnership with the national campaign Music for Dementia, founded and funded by The Utley Foundation, and Methodist Care Homes Association (MHA).
The number of people living with dementia is on the rise.
It is estimated that 885,000 people have dementia in the UK. By 2040, this number is predicted to almost double to 1.6 million. That’s one person diagnosed every three minutes.
Music-based interventions for people living with dementia can improve four keys areas: general attention, cognition, speech and memory skills.
In addition, playing a musical instrument in older adulthood may help to reduce the risk in developing dementia by more than a third.
79% of music therapists working in care homes reported improvement in residents’ memory recall after playing the key lighting keyboard.
95% of music therapists agreed that playing the keyboard increased or enhanced opportunities for social interaction for residents with staff and relatives.
Over 70% of music therapists observed a reduction in residents’ anxiety and depression when using the keyboard.
