Solo Piano III completes the Solo Piano trilogy. Like any final act, there are complications and consequences, followed by an urgent race to the finish line. Like its predecessors, it’s a mostly happy ending in C major, but there is more dissonance, tension and ambiguity along the way. Solo Piano (2004) appeared in a more innocent time, when Chilly Gonzales was a pioneer in evoking the dying genres of classical and jazz and dragged them kicking and screaming into the 21st century. This album of accidental virtuosity surprised everyone, including the self-described musical genius himself. Solo Piano II (2012) was a pop mini-masterpiece for a wired world, a transition to a new reality. By then a legendary entertainer and A-list collaborator (Drake, Daft Punk, Feist) Chilly Gonzales delivered a catchy, polished collection; he was aiming to please and ready for prime time.
The sequel definitively satisfied an ever-increasing audience hungry for Gonzo’s imperfectly perfect miniatures. Solo Piano III comes at a more problematic inflection point. The collaborations continue (Room 29 with Jarvis Cocker, Ibeyi, Toddla T ... ) but Chilly Gonzales doesn’t need to please anyone anymore. Now, he will leave in the wrong notes. Mysterious chords and surprising structures become addictive, until they sound inevitable. The Gonzervatory music school graduated its first class and the teacher has become a perpetual student again, unafraid to let the music speak for itself. The musical purity of Solo Piano III is not an antidote for our times, it is a reflection of all the beauty and ugliness around us. This collection of sheet music compiles a selection of 9 loyally transcribed pieces from the album "Solo Piano III". For many, these scores will reveal fine musical mechanics, that are often misleading or even invisible to the listening. Their transcription has required to make some difficult decisions, the first one being to make these partitions as comfortable as possible for pianists. As a bonus, this notebook offers 2 tracks from the album "Chambers", a breather ("Solitaire") and a happy ending ("Cello"), which is neither major nor minor, but rather fitting for 2 (Piano / Cello).

Doorstep Drop-off only. Pianos are delivered flatpack, usually on a pallet, for self assembly. Please be aware that if you choose our courier service for larger items such as digital pianos, the courier is not contracted to carry items up any steps or stairs. If there are stairs leading to the front door of the delivery address, or you live in an apartment which is not on pavement level, it is your responsibility to arrange for transportation from the pavement level to the delivery address. Please be aware that the box can weigh 60Kg to 120Kg. We recommend that that you have help to move the box to the room of your choice from two or three able-bodied persons. In this instance, the delivery driver may, at their own discretion assist you in carrying the parcels into the delivery address, but they are not contracted nor obliged to do so.
Piano deliveries in Sussex - Subject to availability, we are often able to offer a free, pre-arranged timed delivery and setup service within 50 miles of our shops. With this option pianos are delivered and assembled in your home and the piano is left ready to play.
